A MEDIUM PLATFORM

A Medium Platform was a fluid exhibition created to build community among a large group of designers. The exhibit was nestled against a curved wall near the entrance of the gathering space for OCADU Graphic Design thesis students, inviting my peers to contribute and connect with the space and it’s content. The exhibition, which ran from December 2019-March 2020. It consists of a hand built shelf from recycled scraps, risographed posters, and the curated & contributed content.

For an aspect of my midterm presentation, I used projection mapping to depict my formulaic answer to my thesis question, showcasing the content (the ghost discipline), framed by the shelf (the exhibit), framed by the website (the documentation).

This project is a part of my undergrad thesis, How do you exhibit a ghost discipline?

Honourable mention for the Pivot Award for Information Design and the Bell Media Award for Typography as part of the RGD Student Awards 2020

A digital catalog for the exhibit, updated each week to reflect the content that was exhibited in the space—it serves as a relic of the past and a framework that holds the experience of the exhibit, long after it’s existence. Visit a-medium-platform.org
